Current Events:
Through its collaborative efforts, both regionally
and within the state, the Coalition provides leadership in creating innovative
programs to address housing issues and leadership in developing needed
resources to establish and maintain these programs. The Coalition has
been instrumental in bringing million of dollars in housing-related grants
to the Northern Kentucky region:
- Regional Supportive Housing Grants funded through Kentucky Housing
Corporation and coordinated through the Northern Kentucky Area Development
District.
- Covington Supportive Housing Grant funded through the US Department
of Housing and Urban Development.
- Homeless Services Project providing funding for services to the homeless
population by multiple member agencies.
- Grant and loan applications for housing development projects, supportive
services, and related needs.
- 10 year plan to end Chronic Homelessness
Housing Development
Housing
development is the Coalition’s newest venture. Our goals in this
venture are to increase the numbers of affordable units in Northern Kentucky
and to demonstrate that doing so actually helps the region to flourish.
The Coalition has already purchased and renovated 30 units of housing
for homeless families and is in the process of developing an addition
16 units for very-low and extremely-low income families. Longer-term,
the Coalition is currently laying the groundwork for bringing to the
region the innovative concept of “Cohousing” which “combines
the autonomy of private dwellings with the advantages of community living”…
