Mission Statement:
We, the Northern Kentucky Housing
&
Homeless Coalition, are a coalition of individuals, churches, religious and services agencies who come together to address the issues of homelessness and inadequate housing in our community, state, nation and world.
Philosophy Statement:
We, the Northern Kentucky Housing and Homeless Coalition, recognize that the problem of homelessness in our community is part of an international, national, state and local web of social issues that disempower and oppress people all over the world. We believe that church communities have a responsibility to manifest their beliefs in service and advocacy. We believe that service agencies are responsible for providing quality services that respond to the real needs of the community. We believe that government exists to provide and enforce the basic rights of those governed and that one of those basic rights is adequate, secure and affordable housing. We are appalled by the extent of homelessness and inadequate housing in our community, nation and world. We believe that this must stop and that we share the responsibility for stopping it. To this end we will advocate before the appropriate private and governmental entities to :
- Increase the quantity and improve the quality of emergency, transitional, low-income and very low-income housing.
- Increase the quantity and improve the quality of those other resources available to homeless and marginally housed persons (e.g. medical care, education, food, etc.).
- Work in such a way as to always respect the dignity of homeless and marginally housed persons and to keep them and their needs visible before the community.
- Participate in the political and economic processes on behalf of and in cooperation with homeless and marginally housed persons.
